Visit the Olewine Nature Center during regular business hours to view a display of photographs entered in the Friends of Wildwood annual photography contest. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at 1:00pm. Prizes will be awarded for winning entries, which will be displayed at the Olewine Nature Center, on the website, as well as other venues.

Winter Discovery at Wildwood Park

The Doc Fritchey Chapter of Trout Unlimited will hold an 8-week evening course on introductory fly-tying at the Olewine Nature Center. Most people think of pollination as an example of cooperation between plants and animals, but even though plants and the animals that pollinate them may be completely dependent on each other, they have different goals. The Great Backyard Bird Count

Wildwood Lecture Series: Rearing and Reintroduction of Regal Fritillary Butterflies by Erika McKinney and Tim Becker

Regal Fritillary butterflies were once common throughout the eastern United States. Now the only remaining population of this beautiful species, east of Indiana, can be found at Fort Indiantown Gap Military Reservation. Butterfly Biologist Erika McKinney will explain the current work at FIGMR to study and protect this vulnerable population. ZooAmerica Naturalist Tim Becker will describe their cooperative project to propagate Regal Fritillaries for reintroduction into new areas of Pennsylvania. Pre-registration is not required.
