On-line Art Class: Marker Drawing I – The Cityscape -Suzanne Fellows

Students will need an Ultra Fine Sharpie, paper and a ruler - the Sharpie will go through the paper so you might want another piece of paper to put under your drawing. You will also want a pencil and eraser for your preliminary drawing. If you cannot see the city from your window you will need a reference photo. Keep it simple – a warehouse, a couple of row houses. Online Art Class: Marker Drawing II – The Kitchen Drawer with Suzanne Fellows

Cross Hatching and Cross Contour Shading. Students will need one or two kitchen tools, an Ultra Fine Sharpie and paper – the Sharpie will go through the paper so you might want another piece of paper to put under your drawing. If you did not take Marker Drawing 1 – The Cityscape, we will discuss the marker value scale briefly at the beginning of class.

Students will need Soft Vine Charcoal, a Kneaded Eraser, Paper and a plain white mug. In this class you will learn the correct way to draw an ellipse and how to create shading with stumps, tissues, chamois, cotton swabs, cotton balls, paint-brushes and kneaded erasers. To protect your home from the charcoal - place an extra piece of paper under your easel or workspace to collect fallen charcoal dust. You’ll also want some paper to cover your drawing so it doesn’t smear everything it touches. This extra piece of paper can be hinged on the back of your drawing with masking tape or simply folded around it.

Continuous Line Drawing to Improve Accuracy with Suzanne Fellows
