On Sunday, June 23 the John Harris-Simon Cameron Mansion will be open from 1:00pm-3:00pm. At 1:00pm, Joe Mieczkowski will give a free presentation on the history of The Life and Times of Lincoln’s Secretary of War: Simon Cameron. From 2:00pm-3:00pm, free self-guided tours will be available. The Eagle of the Susquehanna, Simon Cameron, will present a program on his life and times. The Historical Society of Dauphin County will present the 9th annual public reading of the Declaration of Independence on Thursday, July 4, from the porch of the John Harris-Simon Cameron Mansion at 219 S. Front Street, Harrisburg, PA. The Declaration will be read by John Harris, Jr., portrayed by reenactor David Biser. Benjamin Franklin will also be present for the readings.
