The Wizard of Oz was first turned into a musical extravaganza by L. Frank Baum himself. A loose adaptation of Baum's 1900 novel (there is no Wicked Witch or Toto, and there are some new characters), it first played in Chicago in 1902 and was a success on Broadway the following year. The Ephrata Performing Arts Center will hold general auditions for its 2018 season Thursday-Friday, January 11 and 12, from 6:30 - 9:30 PM; Saturday, January 13,from 11:00 AM - 8 PM.; and Sunday, January 14, from 1:00 - 6:00 PM. General Auditions are for 15 years and older. Musical applicants must present a memorized monologue no longer than two minutes and a one-minute song.
