Rug hooking is both an art and a craft where rugs are made by pulling loops of yarn or fabric through a stiff woven base such as burlap, linen, or rug warp. Students in this workshop will create a small mat of their choice from approved kits, and will learn to design their own rugs, what tools and equipment are needed, and all the steps necessary to complete a hooked piece. In this one-day workshop, learn how to weave a small market basket from natural rattan reeds, while learning basic weaving techniques with local basket maker Teena Beutel.
