Homeschool Wednesday: Evergreens

Homeschool science classes continue Wednesday mornings with programs geared for ages 8 through 12. As deciduous trees drop leaves, evergreens become more prominent in our landscape. With Naturalist Mary Ann Schlegel, students will learn common local coniferous trees and other evergreen plants. Dress for the weather as we will be outdoors. Nature Exploration and Pumpkin Creation

Come and create your own no-carve pumpkin using materials found in nature with the help of Naturalist Vanessa Stager. We will go on a nature scavenger hunt on trails around the Environmental Center and collect items such as pinecones, leaves, acorns, and twigs. Campfire with Wildlife and History at the Vesta

Munchkin Science: Space

Pinecone Crafts

Get creative with pinecones this season! Naturalist Ellen Blazer will supply the pinecones, and we will use them to craft turkeys, owls, other animals, and any other creative idea you come up with – using paint, feathers, googly eyes, and more.
