DESCRIPTION:The History of Roads in Lower Paxton Township \nAt the march 5\,2020 meeting  Historical commission member Bob Thomas will provide a  presentation on the history of the roads in the township and how they developed from dirt trails older than the country to the transportation network we have today.  Over the past 250 years our road network has evolved from one designed for  horse drawn wagons to high speed interstate highways.  Population growth and commercial development forced our road network  to adapt through expansion\, rerouting or the creation of completely new road systems.  Along the way we “lost” some roads\, moved some roads\, moved some buildings and lost some farms.  Yet small pieces of our road history remain in plain sight marking the original path or named for a person or place from our local history.  Please join us for this unique presentation.  \n
