Interfaith Pilgrimage in Lancaster
March 13 @ 5:30 pm - April 4 @ 7:00 pm$40
Four places of worship. Two weekends* (*and a half). One community.
This March, join the Lancaster Interfaith Coalition for an intentional journey through the sacred spaces and practices of four of Lancaster’s distinct faith traditions, over the course of two weekends. Together, we will explore what it means to be good guests and good hosts to our neighbors of different faiths, seeing beauty in our own traditions and others’–and getting to know one another across differences.
The pilgrimage begins with a getting-to-know-you session and dinner, followed by visits to the worship services of four different faith traditions: Shaarai Shomayim (Reform Judaism – Friday, March 13, 5:30PM), Church of the Apostles (United Church of Christ, Protestant Christianity – Sunday, March 15, 10AM), Islamic Community Center of Lancaster (Islam – Friday, March 27, 12:15PM), and Unitarian Universalist Church of Lancaster (Unitarian Universalism – Sunday, March 29, 9:30AM), with opportunities to share fellowship and curiosity at each stop along the way.
We will end with a gathering to reflect and celebrate our journey, featuring the River Crossing Playback Theatre troupe to help us share stories, reflect, and think about the future (Saturday, April 4, 5PM).
We hope with this pilgrimage to form a diverse group of seekers to travel together to these sites, growing in our own faith traditions as well as learning about those of others. We ask for a commitment to attend at least one full weekend (or two visits), and hopefully all five ‘stops’ of the pilgrimage. You must register by March 6th in order to participate. A donation of $40 for the entire pilgrimage or $25 for one weekend is requested, but pay-what-you-can tickets are also available. Please see the link for details and FAQs.
