FREE FACILITY TOUR-Frey Farm Landfill
June 13 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Located in Manor Township, the Frey Farm Landfill accepts solid waste that cannot be recycled or burned for energy. This type of waste represents the smallest portion of the waste generated by area residents and businesses. Waste delivered to the landfill consists of mostly inorganic material such as construction/demolition and residual (industrial) waste. Additionally, the landfill is home to two renewable energy projects: the Wind Project at Turkey Point and a Landfill Gas-to-Energy Plant. During the tour, guests will visit the Landfill Gas-to-Energy Plant where methane gas is combusted to create electricity, the landfill tipping face to view site operations and learn about the state-of-the-art protective liner system and the 3.2 megawatt wind project that provides 21-25% of Turkey Hill Dairy’s annual electric needs.
The FREE Frey Farm Landfill tour lasts approximately 60 minutes.
Due to limitations of the site and the safety of our guests, children must be at least 8 years of age and accompanied by an adult.
Visitors are required to wear clothing that is appropriate for an industrial environment. Closed-toed shoes are mandatory. Sandals, flip-flops or open toe/open heel shoes are prohibited. For the safety of our guests, any individual not appropriately dressed will be asked to refrain from participating in the tour.
The Frey Farm Landfill is located at 3049 River Road, Conestoga, PA 17516. After turning into the entrance, the Rieber House Welcome Center is located on the immediate left (it’s a small stone farmhouse) just before the site gate and scale house.
