Welcome to WITF’s Local Events Calendar!
Build a Better World with The Library this Summer!
June 1 - August 1Free
Readers of all ages are invited to become members of The Library’s “Build a Better World” Summer Reading Club starting June 1. Members can explore and register for this year’s reading club by visiting The Library online or by visiting their local library.
New this year! Each library will be holding an ice cream social kick-off event during the week of June 4 through June 9. Summer Reading Club members can complete fun challenges to earn a free ice cream sundae. Visit dcls.org/src to find out when your library is holding their social.
Children who join the Summer Reading Club will receive a themed sticker, lanyard or button. Beginning July 1, children can bring a half-completed activity log to The Library to receive an “Explore Your Community” bag that includes coupons and tickets to area businesses and attractions (while supplies last). Children who submit their completed log to The Library starting August 1 will receive a free book, completion certificate and a chance to win a Kindle Fire Kids Edition.
Teens will receive a Summer Reading Club lanyard or button for joining. Those who complete and turn in a log by August 31 will receive a prize book or clip-on camera lens (while supplies last). Each log submitted will enter the member into a raffle for a Kindle Fire or a variety of gift cards.
Adults who turn in a completed log (or logs), will receive a cell phone holder as well as an entry to win a Kindle Fire or a variety of gift card prizes.
All ages are invited to join us for an online adventure. Completed adventures and completed logs are both ways to earn entry to the End of Summer Dance Party being held on August 26 from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Fort Hunter Park.
The “Build a Better World” Summer Reading Program is sponsored by the Dauphin County Library System, Avalon, Centric Bank, Fulton Bank, M&T Bank, Mid Penn Bank, PNC, UGI Utilities, and Weis with additional support provided by Wells Fargo.
